Broad spectrum preservative
Vinkocide® 869 is a formulation of 5-Chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (CIT) /
2-Methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (MIT) with (Ethylenedioxy)dimethanol (EDDM).
Area of use
Vinkocide® 869 is used to preserve water-based and water-dilutable chemical/technical products as in-can preservatives and slimicides and protective media for fluids used in metalworking. This biocide formulation has a broad antimicrobial spectrum of activity against bacteria, fungi and yeasts and can be used in many cases where other preservatives fail. It is very effective against gram-negative bacteria.
Vinkocide® 869 contains a formaldehyde releaser and therefore gives good headspace protection in all types of in-can preservation. It is free of organic solvents. Vinkocide® 869 is cost effective due to low use levels and combines outstanding long-term effectiveness with the rapid mode of action of CIT/MIT.
Vinkocide® 869 penetrates the cells of the microorganisms and reacts with vital cell elements in order to inactivate important substrates and enzymes that are essential for the function of the cell. These relatively non-specific reactions prevent adaptation and resistance phenomena and cause the microorganisms to die. It also prevents the microbial decay of products and the resulting processes such as phase separation, unpleasant odours, gas formation, changes in viscosity and the formation of harmful toxins.
