Vinkocide® CMI 14 +
Broadband biocide
Vinkocide® CMI 14 + is a formulation of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (CIT) with 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (MIT). This Vinkocide an aqueous, copper- and magnesium-stabilised solution with 14 % CIT/MIT.
Area of use
Vinkocide® CMI 14 + is used to preserve water-based and water-dilutable chemical/technical products as in-can preservatives, protective media for liquids in cooling and processing systems, slimicides and protective media for fluids used in metalworking. This biocide formulation has a broad antimicrobial spectrum of activity against bacteria, fungi and yeasts and can be used in many cases where other products fail.
Product properties
Vinkocide® CMI 14 + is free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde releasers, phenols and heavy metals. It also features good chemical stability, is not volatile and exhibits outstanding long-term effectiveness. This Vinkocide is one of the best examined broadband biocides and fulfils the most stringent purity requirements. Unwanted effects with respect to toxicological properties and also effectiveness are often due to the proportion of contamination during the manufacturing process and have been minimised here.
Action
Vinkocide® CMI 14 + penetrates the cells of the micro-organisms and reacts with vital cell elements in order to inactivate important substrates and enzymes that are essential for the function of the cell. These relatively non-specific reactions prevent adaptation and resistance phenomena and cause the micro-organisms to die. It also prevents the microbial decay of products and the resulting processes such as phase separation, unpleasant odours, gas formation, changes in viscosity and the formation of harmful toxins.
