Vinkocide® CMIF-N

Broadband biocide

Vinkocide® CMIF-N is a formulation of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (CIT) and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (MIT) with 1,3,4,6-tetrakis-hydroxymethyl-tetrahydro-imidazo-(4,5-D)-imidazole-2,5-dione (TMAD).

Area of use

Vinkocide® CMIF-N is used to preserve water-based and water-dilutable chemical/technical products as disinfectants for private use, for public health care, in-can preservatives, protective media for liquids in cooling and processing systems, protective media for fluids used in metalworking, and disinfectants for other biocidal products. These biocide formulations have a broad antimicrobial spectrum of activity against bacteria, fungi and yeasts and can be used in many cases where other products fail.

Product properties

This broadband biocide is especially effective against Gram-negative bacteria, cost effective due to low concentrations of use, and combines outstanding long-term effectiveness with the fast onset of action of CIT/MIT. In addition, this biocide formulation exhibits good vapour phase effectiveness, because it contains a formaldehyde releaser.

Action

Vinkocide® CMIF-N penetrates the cells of the micro-organisms and reacts with vital cell elements in order to inactivate important substrates and enzymes that are essential for the function of the cell. These relatively non-specific reactions prevent adaptation and resistance phenomena and cause the micro-organisms to die. It also prevents the microbial decay of products and the resulting processes such as phase separation, unpleasant odours, gas formation, changes in viscosity and the formation of harmful toxins.
